Texas Bicycle Death Lawyer fighting for families and loved ones killed by driver negligence.
Have you noticed white bikes placed along roadways as you drive around the city of Houston? Well, those bicycles serve as memorials for Houston cyclists who were killed while riding through our city.
Unbelievably, someone is stealing the bikes after they have been placed at the fatal site of the bicyclist’s death. Steve Sims, one of Houston ghost bikes members, stated that the bikes that a been reported missing didn’t have plaques, flowers, or a ghost bike sticker attached.
“‘It’s possible that whoever took the bike just didn’t know what it means. We’re making sure to add every thing to the replacing bikes,’ since Sam’s, adding that the best have been in what are called hire crime areas.'”
A recent news report estimates the number of missing bikes at just over a dozen.
Although it is possible that the person or persons who are taking a bikes does not know that they are bike memorials that idea is highly unlikely because the bikes are completely spray-painted white; there are no gears left on the bikes; the bike chains are removed; and the bike frame itself is welded in a way that makes it impossible to ride.
If you see someone removing a completely white bike in the future from a sidewalk area or tree do not attempt to confront the person, but please call the Houston Police Department, so that an officer may promptly investigate the situation.
